SOLID BOTTOM CREEK

SOLD BOTTOM CREEK HAS THE DISTINCTION OF BEING THE MOST WESTERLY DNR DESIGNATED TROUT STREAM UNTIL YOU REACH MONTANA.  THE CREEK WINDS FOR OVER A HALF MILE THROUGH UTOPIA BAY'S 56 ACRES AND IS IN A GORGE ABOUT 60' DEEP WITH A MOUNTAIN LIKE SETTING OF BOULDERS AND TOWERING PINES.

IN THE SPRING OF 2016 THE DNR CONDUCTED AN EXTENSIVE CREEK RESTORATION PROJECT IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE EROSION OF A 60' HIGH SAND EMBANKMENT.  THEY ALTERED THE FLOW IN PART OF THE CREEK, AND IN THE PROCESS CREATED MORE POOLS AND SPAWNING AREAS FOR THE BROOK TROUT.  THE DNR CONTINUALLY STOCKS THE STREAM WHICH HAS ALSO SHOWN SOME SIGNS OF NATURAL SPAWNING.  GO FOR A HIKE ALONG THE BANKS OF THE STREAM OR JUST SIT AND LISTEN TO THE TRANQUIL SOUND OF THE STREAM FLOWING INTO THE POOLS.
